Nub vs. Trackball
I have been receiving a horde of emails tonight about my use of the word nub when describing the Sidekick 3 navigation system. Allow me to explain: To those of you who were fortunate enough to play video games in the 1980's, you might have played games like Missile Command or Marble Madness (pictured at left) or even Centipede. If you are younger, maybe you have seen the golf game Golden Tee? Well each of those games has a trackball, which is a ball that moves with a socket. It rolls in any direction and spins freely within that socket. The Sidekick 3 nub is like this but on a smaller scale, though it feels like it only imitates this functionality which is why I called it a navigation knob in my review from early April. It feels much like the mouse-knob that sits in the middle of many laptop keyboards, except you don't really "push it" directionally, it responds to you sliding your finger over it with a slippery sensitivity. Some people will like it, some won't. It will definitely open up some possiblities for gaming though and it will allow for more PC-like navigation longer term on the web browser. This loser actually went all the way back to april and changed the wording in his post when he talked about it having a "nub". It now says something different.

BTW it would be ridiculous for an electronic device to have a touch-sensitive "knob" on it with such a small screen. It would be useless and innacurate. It can only be a trackball, IF that.
ah well...when the unit comes out this guy is toast anyways. may as well laugh now :)

I'm thinkin' it does, since I use a similar setup every day. It's Apple's Mighty Mouse (http://www.apple.com/mightymouse/), and it features a tiny trackball where the mouse wheel would normally be.
At first, I thought the Mighty Mouse bal didn't really rotate freely, either. Then I drew a dot on it, and watched it roll around. Definitely a ball. Looking at the bezel surrounding the ball in the previously-posted photos, I have to say it definitely looks like a ball... making it work like a nub would be complicated.
Add that there's no reason for Danger/Sharp to build some kind of complex nub when a tiny ball is cheap and readily available on the market. Using a spherical ball would also make lighting the apparatus evenly (without shadows or reflections) a lot simpler.
Correct it is just an oldschool mouse upside down sort of ;)

A mouse is ingeniously simple really here is a borrowed picutre from www.blowaway.org just two wheels or axles if you wish that 'register' the X and Y movement of the ball and 'translates' that into electronic signals as seen at the other end (IR LED)

This is a question about the English language no need to Google (or as in this case Wikipedia) terms if you are familiar with them.
Maybe you should read up a little about Webblogs (or Blogs as they are called) if you have a blog you don't really need a website as such as they are two totally different things.
