Live from T-Mobile in L.A. - Sidekick Central!

The line in L.A. is still crazy long, word is they got 1100 units of the Sidekick 3 in stock for the line waiters. The police are out in force and keeping people orderly and there is a DJ/mixer and a radio guy on site and people are freaking out with giddiness as they walk out of the store.

I got there at 8:30 this morning and it took 5 hours. Around 1:30 another big shipment came into the store. The line when I walked out (with my SK3!) was just as long as it was when I had started out at 8:30. The people working there were very cool and even handed out free bottled water to us in line. I know, I know... They will take in thousands of dollars today, but it was a nice gesture.

I got mine. The line was long. While it was only a couple of blocks long (the block between Wilshire and California is very long), we were standing 3 and 4 across. Had it been a single file line, it could easily have been 2 to 3 times longer. I arrived at 6:50am and didn't walk out of the store until about 12:15. I was approximately customer 200. By the time I was leaving, the line had lessened considerably, however, I don't know if that was because people had gotten their units or because those at that back were discouraged and left.

While the slow process was a bit frustrating at times, it was fun being in line with people who have such an affinity for the Sidekick. We are a family. The Sidekick Family.

The guy that fought to help get his friend's sidekick back has posted an ad on EBAY to sell it and give the proceeds to charity. TMO is matching the proceeds up to $5000. Here is the item number: 330001992063. The seller name is stolensidekick. It's really amazing. So far the bid is up to $1075.

The speaker on the music player sounds shockingly good! Overall construction feels a bit more plastic-y and delicate, but smaller and lighter is nice too. i guess we'll just have to give it some time. Sure feels different though. Gonna test out the camera some more, but it's much better in the right lighting situations.

hey bsd..let me noe if u picked up ur sk3...oh yeah this phone is very well worth it. if i was to review it id give it something like an 7.5 to an 8..yess it lacks the screen quality but if u currently use a sk then youll see that there is a slight difference. the trackball is sorta iffy at first but it has some getting used to.its very sensative.the music player isnt an ipod but it is good especially with the givin headset.i noticed that the sk3 has edge but it really doesnt seem faster mayb its bcuz of my area.the phone is good.the wait was long and your the man for keeping the world updated. the phone is good not great......

Over one thousand people waited in line for the new T-Mobile Sidekick 3 during the pre-sale event in Santa Monica on Wednesday, June 28, 2006. Customers camped out all night in front of the T-mobile store on Wilshire Bl. to insure getting the new Sidekick 3. The line ran from Wilshire Bl., down Forth Street all the way to California Ave. T-Mobile sold out of the Sidekick in only a few hours. Customers had to be turned away. The phone is only available for current Sidekick users. The rest of the public will have to wait until July 10th to buy a Sidekick 3. The Sidekick 3 sells for $300.00 with a two year contract.

Photos of pre sale can be seen at:

I am so excited to get my Sidekick 3!!!!!!!!!! I love sidekicks and I cant wait. I really do love sidekicks.I cant wait for the limited editions to come out, becasuse they will be so cool! I love Sidekicks and hope that they will come to Cingular and Fido and Suncom and Cable & Wireless, and incase the owner of this blog hasn't noticed, i've been going on and on just because I want to prove what an idiot he is and how he sucks at moderating! He probley just read the first line and then ok'ed it! Hold on, let me just through this in to keep "on topic" for when he scans through.. I really cant wait for the sidekick to come out. I tried to get it last night, but couldn't get through. Lmao, k anyway, sometimes, when my cunt itches, I rub my brother's baseball bat on it!! Cool! I LOVE SIDEKICKSS!!!!

I got there around 12:45 and finally purchased my SK3 around 3pm. The wait wasn't too bad but I almost did turn around when I saw the line and how slow it was moving.

I didn't wait on that line this morning, in NYC but man the line was crazy. Got there after 5 and the line was short, then got super long again when I left. So far I'd give it a 7 or so. Does feel much more delicate and I don't like that some of the programs I had with the sk2 such as time traveler, AOL MAIL, and the Picture grabber are not availabe on this phone.
