Sidekick Slide and Sidekick Zante
So what we have here are images of the Sidekick Slide (thanks Engadget) and what we believe is the Sidekick Zante, also known at the Motorola Q700. So while all these new devices and what about the Sidekick X and the Sidekick 4? We don't know just yet, but for now it appears there are two new Sidekicks on their way and they stem from a partnership Danger has established with Motorola (didn't we mention that 6 months ago?) A while back, there was rumor of a Sidekick RAZR coming, my guess is this is what people were talking about. Either way, get excited kids because these form factors look really slick.

that looks fucking sick. ill be sure to be one of the first hundreds waiting in line for this one like the release of the sk3. new os, that should be interesting... maybe higher res along with that...
Interesting looking devices. I am also intrigued by the timing of leaks. Just two weeks before the iPhone launch. That's probably good strategy and I would suspect we will see more leaks with more detailed info. I think Danger knows that they may have the most to lose versus the iPhone since the devices have similar types of emotional appeal, so they to get out as much info as possible to convince people to think twice. I sure hope OS 4 is a whole lot more robust (especially the browser) and that maybe this Sidekick will be wi-fi capable.
i doubt it will be wifi just because if it was then tmobile wouldnt be able to get that 20 dollars for the unlimited service. im sure all the features are the same..

Just because it has wi-fi doesn't mean you would ditch the $20 data plan. Part of the appeal of the Sidekick is that you have access to your data at all times.
Whoa hold up.. How is ur data plan $20? I live in southern california and its $30 for the unlimited data on the kick3. But you can bet I'm for sure be one of the first to get on that phone cause the kick 3 has been pissin me off lately. And I think I need a fresh look on my phone. So ill keep my kick 3 and just buy the zante or 4 when it comes out. Its fresh and the girls will be all over that. As far as new features... well that's still debatable. The kick3 had what 2 new features. (3 if you include the new myFaves upgrade we all got). So hopefully they get something new on it... like maybe a video player to keep up with the competition? Cause that's the one thing everyone is talking about. They want to watch movies or videos on the kicks. But its not capable. And if they are slimming the phone down I doubt they will be able to put a video player in.
i assume u pay 30 because like my girlfriend all u use the sidekick for is the data plan and have another phone on the side. i use my kick as a phone and everything else.
richard- if it had wifi it would lead to homebrewed apps on the sidekick just like any other phone/wifi device.

rj (you have great initials btw as I am also an rjl), I disagree with the homebrew apps - nothing would change in terms of the operational aspects of the sidekick, only the speed and reliability of the connection (and technically maybe only the reliability since you would still have to access Danger's servers)

Next sidekicks are NOT coming out in september. They are expected now as late as December of this year.
I feel like the 4's wont be half as durable as the sk2 or even 3.

Yo I'm back again. Just want to say yes I'm almost positive on the end of the year release date. ONLY on the sidekick Slide. A few weeks or maybe a little bit more than a month after the Sidekick Zante will come out. The sidekick Zante IS and I'm 100% sure is the sidekick 4. They are the same. And the Sidekick 4 or "zante" is suppose to be better. So I'd hold off till it comes out. It will have new features. And it should be competing with everything out today except maybe the iPhone. So look for the slide coming out the end of this year and the 4 will follow shortly after.

The phone will not be coming out in October. As you remember the sk3 came out months later than they expected.. Like I said before. Look for an end of the year release or early january release.. New features will include a new camera with possible video option. I can't give you any more info than that at this time. But as soon as I hear something I will for sure post it on here.
Hey I cannot wait for videophone on sidekick 4 should be looks awesomely and because hearing people use the voice and hear so why not install for deaf people use videophone to speak sign language and this should be making good sense to do it in the future. T-Mobile USA announced the Sidekick Slide, which is manufactured by Motorola and features a slide-up screen in place of the standard Sidekick swivel screen. The Sidekick Slide features a 2.5" QVGA screen, 1.3 megapixel camera, and microSD card slot for expanded memory, with support for cards as large as 4GB. Connectivity options on the Sidekick Slide include support for quad-band GSM, Bluetooth, and data over T-Mobile's EDGE network.
The Sidekick Slide includes an enhanced Web browser with improved Java support, as well as a music player that supports MP3 and AAC music files. The Sidekick Slide will sport the typical software of previous Sidekicks, which includes T-Mobile's MyFaves service, email (both POP3 and IMAP), and IM clients for AOL Instant Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, and Yahoo! Messenger. Users can download the MySpace Mobile application through the Sidekick Slide's Download catalog.
T-Mobile claims the Sidekick Slide will have up to 5.9 hrs of talk time and 3.6 days of standby. The Sidekick Slide weighs 150g (5.3 oz) and measures 116.8mm x 60.9mm x 17.2mm (4.6" x 2.4" x .68"). Availability is planned for November 7, 2007, with pricing set at $199 with a 2-year contract.

The new features included on the LX are that you can now send picture messages with your sidekick and comes with the new One Touch Myspace feature.
