I am opening up the comment section for all of the new owners today (all 2200 of you) to come in and share some of your thoughts and observations on the Sidekick 3. What do you like? What don't you like? How is the catalog section? Any new apps in there? What color is your trackball? Did you choose from a new list of ringtones? Did you order your Mini-SD card yet (see Amazon links below)? How did you transfer MP3s to your Sidekick 3? For those of you who ordered today, can you track your shipment yet? i just tried...the only response i got from the ups site is "billing information received." this doesn't confirm pick-up or delivery. this was just for my wifes phone number, when i enter mine...no response. what the heck is going on?

No that is the price of the PHONE itself not the extra for the delivery method. I was worried too...i got a text with something different but it was explained to me over through customer care.
There was no option for Next Day Air. I would have used it if there was.
I got express and its tagged on the ups site as next day air. Hopefully will have it tomorrow then.

its an awsome phone. it may feel loose or cheap at first but you get used to it - its def a new feeling for a sidekick - nothing youd be used to - but itll turn heads and deff makes a statement - im one of the 2200 to get one today, and the feedback is insane. when you guys get it make sure to put the memory card into the fone under the battery protector in order to take hundreds of pictures or juts upload 10 songs to ur phone which does come in handy and is an awsome feature. enjoy.

it reminds me a lot of the sk2. there are a few tweaks but I'm glad to get it! I saw Chingy whenI was in the VIP line in LA. Some people were like who is that? haha it was funny

i just called tmobile, and asked why my UPS shipping still says no infomration available, and he says its pending which means it didnt leave tmobile yet, and that it could possibly mean that they sold out. which is completely bullshit, because i ordered at 12:02am. So yeah.
nope u cant track ur shipment yet. overall the phone shows major improvement. could have a better screen of course. some of the apps in the sidekick 2 catalog are definitely missing from the sidekick 3 catalog. def wish there was a rebate on it
I ordered mine today JUN 28th at 6:45am. I talked with the rep, she was real cool said 3-day was the fastest.
When I look at the UPS site, it says "NEXT DAY AIR SAVER" whatever that means. I am guessing it was upgraded? Not sure? But I know that the devices are being mailed from Lagrange, Georgia, so if you are closer maybe it will be sent out tomorrow, due to the close proximity? All I know is mine is in Houston as of 9:47 MST.

The trackball lights up all different colors brianna ;) .. can't wait for mine to get here tomorrow
waited in line for 6 and a half hours in Santa Monica, ca.. took a few pix of celebs like jenna jamenson, wee man, and chingy. finally got mine.. and was rather bumbed that I would have to buy my music all over again as well as the apps.. I should only have to pay for it ONCE. On top of that I went to the catalog and they barely have any apps available... WTF!! I thought they kepted the same OS? should all the apps be compatible?
As for the phone itself..
Dislikes:
don't like the position of the two top buttons *) and (*. there right behind the screen, so when in the up postion they are kinda hard to reach.
with no rubber bumpers sk3, so its a bit harder now.. Not as comfortable as sk2
the keypad buttons are raised a bit higher, but there made out of plastic as opposed to sk2's rubber. So my thumbs already hurt just from today.
Would have like to see a change in all the menus.. Most of the software changes could have been done on a over the air update.
can't use downloaded mp3's as ringtones
Default Ringtone list is way shorter.. although better (actual) songs.. I like the "danger" rap.
Speaker seems worse than sk2. Not nearly as loud. even when playing mp3s.
People have a hard time hearing me when i use the speaker.

Track ball is awsome, much faster than scrolling.
slimmer size is a plus.
sonic boom is pretty organized just like an ipod.. all we need now is sd cards that are bigger than 2gb

Mine kept lossing connection with the network but I guess tmobile is working out all the kinks still.
Jump page is less cluttered do to folder organizing similar apps.. Ie: Organizer folder contains calender, note, and, task.

I get the impression that danger is getting very greddy and not helping the users as much as they used to.
they dont allow music to be transfered from old sk's or download so you have to buy more from them.
they could have added way more features software wise to make it competitive with the blackberry or other smartphones, yet they choose the cheaper route knowing that people will buy anyway due to it's popularity. B4 sk2 you didnt see many commercials for it.. Once snoop dogg came out with a sk2, everybody wanted one. Once tmobile figured out what type of goldmine they were sitting on, they decided to capitalize for themself ie: No trade in Program this time. But I guess that's Buisness.

I placed my order about 1:30 PM PST, I never got a text message confirming my order and it isn't coming up in the UPS system..I wonder when it will be here.. I paid $440 for no contract and UPS Express. I'm in CA.
If you aren't able to track your shipping through UPS or USPS yet, make sure you are entering your phone number into the routing # area like so, 555-555-5555... makes a world of difference. Also, even if you did not pay for the express delivery, they are counting all "standard" deliveries as 3 day delivery. Sweet!

I too am one of the 2200 people to pick one up... got one yesterday in New York at the Madison Avenue store. I avoided the rush... went around 2:30pm and there was a line of only two people outside :-) Line inside the store made it a ten minute wait altogether, but was well worth it. Contrary to what has been said by previous posters... I received a 64MB miniSD card in my box. It came with no SIM card (Madison store was low on them, so they only gave u a unit with a SIM card if you didn't already have a SK2).
My First impressions are:
(1.) I hate the fact that T-mobile is making me re-purchase every application and ringtone again, with no sort of credit to previous purchases made on my SK2. The Catalog is close to empty if you ask me and has almost none of the apps or games that I have purchased on the SK2 for me to rebuy even if I wanted to. (ie. No Tetris, No Terminal Client, No Time Traveler, No Picture Transfer, No Sudoku, No AOL Mail, No Spades, No Basketball... Only thing I was able to get that I had before was the calculator; WOW!)
(2.) The screen feels really abrupt when opening... almost like you feel like you did something wrong. Feels a little rickety too at the hinge so makes you wonder about it's longevity there.
(3.) I cannot select an MP3 from my SIM card as a ringtone... Nor can I select an image from my SK3 or memory card as a background.
(4.) I know this will seem petty... but I still have the same 10 picture avatars available for phone book entries.
(5.) The web browser still takes a while to connect to a site... but the downloads once there are much, much faster.
(6.) The strap is a great addition, but why in God's name could they not include a better looking case?? I will say though that the case is not as huge as the one provided with the previous models.
(7.) The SK3 isn't actually that much physically smaller than the SK2... but really feels like it is.
(8.) The music player is great! Not called Sonic Boom, but great nonetheless. Sound from speaker or included headset is really very good. If you're listening to music and a call comes in... the music fades out and pauses, resumes when call is disconnected.
(9.) Phone voice quality seems as good or better than it was previously. Which is a major plus.
(10.) Trackball takes slight getting used to... but is really fantastic once you do. Lights up as well and is really a nice touch.
(11.) The new teired menu system is great and works in a way that "organizer" contains calendar, notes and tasks. Makes access to these a 2-click process... buty makes the SK3 jump screen less jumbled.
(12.) Since first turning on the device, my Yahoo Messenger is not working (and still isn't right now)... but thankfully AIM and MSN are. SK3 retrieved my login info. automatically from the server for both AIM and Yahoo... simple, but nice.
(13.) Bluetooth is great... but really needs more profiles. Syncing with Outlook via the Bluetooth would be great for instance.
(14.) Camera is a whole lot better if you ask me... and with an SD card the storage is more than enough for your average user (over 100 remaining with included 64MB card).
(15.) Finally, the most important assessment goes to the widely criticized screen quality. I personally think the current screen is a veast improvement over the previous one, and is only helped by the largely better graphics on each screen.
At the end of the day... the SK3 is a very worthwhile purchase / upgrade and should begin to give users the next-generation technology necessary to fit in during these digital days we live in. Remember this, No other device works the way the Sidekick does, in as much as, all your data and settings are constantly in sync with T-Mobile's servers. If you lose your SK3, simply buy another one re-register your SIM and Voila! everything is back in play. Not the case with any other device on the market (Yes, not even the MDA :-]). This is the same technology that made my upgrade to the SK3 and the migration of all my email and settings take literally just 2 and a half minutes. That level of synchronization is incomparable.

i didnt even pay for 3 day shipping and im getting mine tomorrow!! ( june 30th ). I am so happy! i will let everyone know my thoughts! Im sure ill love it though. The tmobile guy said ill have it July 7th! he was wrong!! Im glad he was wrong too! also, i called on the 27th, and asked if i could order the sidekick 3 and put the amount of the phone on my bill, they said NO i could not. it asked for a advanced payment. well i went online and tryed to upgrade and IT WORKED WITHOUT advanced payment! So, that goes to show that tmobile reps arent ALWAYS right.
Well that sucks only 10 songs....
I picked up my sk3 yesterday. it's ok. nothing to go crazy about...I wish the ringtones I had transferred over.

I was a bit disappointed to find out that I have to sign up for T-Mobile Sidekick Unlimited to experience its full potential. Honestly, I got bored with it after I put in all my contacts. I can't access the web. The ringtone selection is very limited. The camera has no zoom. The USB connection is only 1.1 which is far behind from what is offered today. It's not really worth the 300$. I guess it's just nice to look at. The keyboard is a great plus as everyone already knows. If you want a smartphone that works to its full potential, stick to the high-end ones, like the Treo(unlocked), Nokia, or the Blackberry.
Other than that, it's very easy to learn. I got used to it in the first hour I started using it.

Wassup all, I juss got my sk3 last niTe and I have no dissappointments! I made a pre-order for it wed. and asked 4 express delivery which should've taken about 3 days, but I RECEIVED IT THE NEXT DAY!!! (Now thats wat I call great service!)=) The phone is hoTT..LUV the fact that the camera/pix are more clearer cuz as every1 kno's sidekick camera's suck! But this sk3 camera isnt that bad. LUV errything about it..compliments to the designers ;0)
to be honest with you people, I got my sidekick3 the first day it came out. I was so excited to get it and when I recieved it, I was just so elated. To be totally honest, its really not that big of a deal, its a lot of hype, there are a few things that are better like the camera, the blue tooth, the mp3 player and its a bit smaller. But the internet works a lot better with sk2 and if your a person on the run like I am, you wanna switch back just so you can actually get some service
i just got my sk3 yesterday(july 10th) we had some guy personaly deliver it to our house. i live in iowa so the two malls that had t-mobile stores only had 15 in stock. i got lucky cuz im sure those 15 sidekicks at the two stores would have been long gone at the end of the day. i had to pay round' $400 for it but it was worth it. it looks fancy and totally modern. i think everything about it rocks and the trackball was the first thing i tested out. overall the sk3 is a musthave.
