USER REVIEWS: I am going to attempt to use the Sidekick 3 blog as a comment forum, it's not perfect, but lets see if we can make it work. The comment section under this posting is for user reviews of the Sidekick 3.

waited in line for 6 and a half hours in Santa Monica, ca.. took a few pix of celebs like jenna jamenson, wee man, and chingy. finally got mine.. and was rather bumbed that I would have to buy my music all over again as well as the apps.. I should only have to pay for it ONCE. On top of that I went to the catalog and they barely have any apps available... WTF!! I thought they kepted the same OS? should all the apps be compatible?
As for the phone itself..
Dislikes:
don't like the position of the two top buttons *) and (*. there right behind the screen, so when in the up postion they are kinda hard to reach.
with no rubber bumpers sk3, so its a bit harder now.. Not as comfortable as sk2
the keypad buttons are raised a bit higher, but there made out of plastic as opposed to sk2's rubber. So my thumbs already hurt just from today.
Would have like to see a change in all the menus.. Most of the software changes could have been done on a over the air update.
can't use downloaded mp3's as ringtones
Default Ringtone list is way shorter.. although better (actual) songs.. I like the "danger" rap.
Speaker seems worse than sk2. Not nearly as loud. even when playing mp3s.
People have a hard time hearing me when i use the speaker.

Track ball is awsome, much faster than scrolling.
slimmer size is a plus.
sonic boom is pretty organized just like an ipod.. all we need now is sd cards that are bigger than 2gb
Connects to comp pretty fast
Web is definatly faster
Mine kept lossing connection with the network but I guess tmobile is working out all the kinks still.
Jump page is less cluttered do to folder organizing similar apps.. Ie: Organizer folder contains calender, note, and, task.
I LOVE the stereo Headset with an intergrated Microphone..
FINAL THOUGHT
I get the impression that danger is getting very greddy and not helping the users as much as they used to.
they dont allow music to be transfered from old sk's or download so you have to buy more from them.
they could have added way more features software wise to make it competitive with the blackberry or other smartphones, yet they choose the cheaper route knowing that people will buy anyway due to it's popularity. B4 sk2 you didnt see many commercials for it.. Once snoop dogg came out with a sk2, everybody wanted one. Once tmobile figured out what type of goldmine they were sitting on, they decided to capitalize for themself ie: No trade in Program this time. But I guess that's Buisness.
Just got my sk3 today, and I am actually writing this comment on it. First of all this baby is so fast. I had a little trouble getting used to the trackball and the keys being so close together. But after I got over that I fell in love. Compared to my sk2, this is heaven. I personally prefer the trackball to the scroll wheel. Its easier to use especially when a page has multiple links. I'm a little bummed about the screen res. But its no big deal, the screen does look slightly better than the sk2's, I can't really put my finger on what's changed. The camera is definetly better, but the flash is nothing to get excited about.
Overall I give the sidekick 3 a 8 out of 10
Did anyone charge their sk3s the recommended 4 hours before playin with it? =)
i seriously doubt that anybody will charge it first..hehe..
I charged mine for 4 hours but played with it a bit while I waited.
I feel like TMo took more away than the gave me with the SK3.
I do like the form factor but I'm disappointed that they couldn't do more with the screen. When I look at the 18 months or so that have passed since the SK2, I can't help but wonder WHY??? In the fast paced world of mobile electronics, Danger/TMo can't afford half-assed upgrades.
The camera is so-so. Internal storage seems to have been reduced but the addition of the SD card storage is a plus.
The trackball is quite nice. But the loss of functionality (downloaded apps are what really made my SK2 super-useful) negates the hardware improvements. The keyboard is actually a lot better. The tactile feel is nice and it is likely to hold up far better over time.
The standard applications remain largely unchanged which seems to contradict the assertion that the catalog is empty because the other applications aren't compatible. Although the introduction of the trackball navigation probably has something to do with it.
The Music Player IS Music Player. I'm not sure why people keep referring to it as Sonic Boom. It's OK but it might be better with some visualizations.
Snow Bored is still there so that's a huge plus and also indicates how little change there is to the OS.
Bluetooth is a plus but I haven't had a chance to try a BT headset yet.
My recommendation if you have a perfectly working SK2 is to keep it. Wait for the next generation hardware. When Danger moved from the SK1 to the Color SK, I waited and was rewarded with the SK2. The SK3 is really no more than the Color SK in terms of its evolution from the previous model.
I'll keep mine, but I'm glad I didn't sign a 2 year agreement to get my hands on it because I'll probably swith to a Blackberry and a carrier with better national coverage.

Is anyone using the SK3 with their prepaid sim cards? I know they said they might not be supporting prepaid yet..
I love my SK3. I have owned the b/w, the SK2, and now the SK3 and I have to disagree with the previous poster when he basically likens the SK2-SK3 to evolution to the B/W sikekick-color. You get way more than a cosmetic change with the 3. Im not going to run through all the specs (if you need them there all over this Blog, or go to sidekick.com) but the form factor is a huge plus. The trackball is extremely nice (once you get used to it) and the music player is awsome. I can litterally not cary my ipod around as much anymore. the sound through the headphones is propbably just as good as my ipod. The bluetooth is great too. Honestly these are features that should have went on the SK2 but since they didn't Id recommend upgrading if you can afford it.

Seriously the only thing wrong with sidekick 3 is that u gotta get use to the trackball and the fact that the screen is a little stff and it kinda feels like itsz gunna break...but all the other problems i hear about arnt bad well on mine arnt and the screen umm itsz deff better than sk2......In My Opinion

Overall the sidekick3 is waaaaaaaaaaaay better then the 2. It feels way better then the 2. I dont have no problems with the 3. if you love the 2 you will love the 3. its only nature.
How long did it take for your sidekick 3 to activate? Mine has already been trying for over twelve hours.
