Music Via Bluetooth on Your Sidekick 3

"I have a Bluetooth headset and I was in the middle of a phone call and was playing around with my Sidekick by accident during the call I hit the play button on the mp3 player but instead of hearing the music through the handset I was hearing music in my Bluetooth! But this was only during the phone calls and it would drown out the other person's voice. It did not work in any other case. I don't know if this has been reported by anyone else. Its obvious that the sidekick 3 is capable of using the Bluetooth headset as a ear phones for the mp3 player... so my question is was this taken out by T-mobile to be used later in the OTA update because the capability is clearly there."

yeah I called my voice mail while the music player was on and as soon as the music player stopped and the bluetooth started working I pressed play on the music player and it started playing through my bluetooth head set.

I am new at the MP3 player stuff...where do you go to download MP3 player tunes? Maryland

It's certainly possible to do it in the way it's being described, I did it accidentally when calling Customer Service before my phone got activated.

However!

The sidekick (at the moment, at least) doesn't support the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), which is what you need for bluetooth headphones. So, no 'true' bluetooth music quite yet.

According to the spec, A2DP can run over (some?) Bluetooth 1.2 devices. No word yet on whether the SK3 could be upgraded to allow A2DP.

ok for you ppl that just picked up the sk3 and dont know how to put on MP3's..

open a program such as limewire, (i noticed that itunes doesn't work for obvious licensing issues).. click start then my computer and look at where it says devices with removable storage. keep your eye on that. when you plug in your sk3 through USB, find the drive that was just added on for example you might have

removable disk (A:)
removable disk (B:)

so when u plug in your sidekick 3 for example a new drive should pop up such as removable disk (C:).
double click that, double click music and the folder should be empty. drag music from your music program (such as limewire) into that music folder. when you are done, unplug and voila! enjoy :)

if that doesnt help, read the damn manual lol

hmm this really out of topic but anyone who uses the sk3 how is it for you? im tired of going to review sites and 50% say its good and the other bad

i have been a sidekick 2 customer for a while now, but by coincidence, my parents finally told me i could get one on july 10 so thats when i did.. so far it has been great, battery life issues but nothing that cant be fixed by cycling the battery.. sounds great, good mp3 quality, great design.. you can change your sound settings like i did.. instead of silent, buzz, soft, normal, loud, and maximum, you can put stuff like i did like change silent to "cant hear shit" and maximum to "real fuckin loud" lol anymore questions IM me on AIM.. I'm about to go to radio shack to get a 3.5 mm to 2.5 mm converter.. hopefully this will make it work lke a regular headphone jack. I want to hook it up to my car through my tape deck for my iPod.. that'll be SICK

I wanted to listen to my new SK3's 2Gigs of MP3s that I had anxiously loaded up via my expensive Sennheiser headphones ( I hate earbuds)...

DO NOT GO TO RADIO SHACK AND BUY A 2.5MM to 3.5MM ADAPTER LIKE I DID!

It will not work. The 2.5MM adapters that they sell there are 3-conductor, and if you look carefully at the 2.5MM headphones that came with the SK3, you'll see that they're 4-conductor. I assume this is due to the fact that the provided headphones have a microphone built into them. It's surprising to me (I'm a cellular engineer) that this would prohibit a 3-conductor from working, but it does.

I therefore got out my soldering iron and cut off the earbuds of the provided earbuds and was going to permanently attach the 4-conductor 2.5MM plug to a 3.5MM adapter I had lying around. Then I'd be able to plug in my ultra comfy Senn's! Not...

DO NOT DO THAT EITHER.

The "wires" inside of the provided earbuds are a non-metallic fibrous material that cannot be easily soldered. The name of this stuff escapes me, but it's useless when it comes to modifications...

SO NOW WHAT?

I found an adapter on Ebay by using "2.5MM to 3.5MM" as a search criteria. It's coming from Hong Kong. It should arrive soon and I'll try to post the results.
