New Sidekick Platform Details on October 12th

This isn't new, but I wanted to post it because we are less than 2 weeks away from the answer. Some FCC documents for a Danger (the Sidekick manufacturer) device dated September 5, 2006. The question is, what’s with the frequencies?

The new device operates at 850/1800/1900 MHz frequencies, whereas the Sidekick 3 operates at 900/1800/1900 MHz. Could it be a Sidekick Platform for Cingular, which operates at 850, instead of T-Mobile, which does not. Could it be a Motorola handset for Cingular as I have mentioned? Or, it could just be a new version of the Sidekick which also works with the 850 band overseas?
The FCC confidentiality request expires October 12, so that is the date to mark on your calendars. Anything we hear about our beloved Sidekick 3 in the meantime we will post. If you have any insight or pics, hit us at

Overheard In Palo Alto: Sidekick Operating System Going to Motorola

Danger, who makes our little Sidekick series of devices is not really a hardware company. They are a software company and they have been dating company's like Sharp and UT Starcom to get the Sidekick II and Sidekick 3 up and running and built. Well I heard yesterday that the next girl to say yes to a Danger hook up is Motorola, that nice little American company that has turned their handset business around and is actually cool again. Wouldn't that be great to see a nice sleek Motorola designed handset running the Danger OS? This would explain the talk of a RAZR version of the Sidekick that people have been talking about for over a year now. There has reportedly been a super thin, or razor-like version of the Sidekick in the works for 18 months. It's all speculation until there is a release, but if you happen to be in a manufacturing facility and see one of these and want to shoot over a pic, email me at Otherwise, feel free to chew over this in the forums.

Black Sidekick 3 in the Wild

There have been multiple rumors about this Sidekick 3 and only the sweet lady bug knows for sure. I think the paint job is too good to be done by a service who customizes existing Sidekick 3's. My bet is that this is a shot of an upcoming special edition Sidekick 3.

If The Sidekick 3 and The Tin Man Had a Baby

I know I am not the only one who sw this and said, "what happened the Sidekick? " Upon closer inspection, I learned that is just something totally different. It's a UI40 or something and it's just a copycat only without the keyboard. I think those are little base woofers in the top corners too.
