Now THIS is interesting...right from a Sharp Employee

As the clock ticks closer to launch, we are getting rumors of Sidekick 3 launch parties in L.A. and New York in early June, talk of celebrities seen carrying the Sidekick 3, and then this little doozy below that could throw a wrench into everything we think we know so far. Remember, if you have pictures of the Sidekick 3 or meaningful data points that can help us put the puzzle together, send me an email at sidekicker3@gmail.com - BSD

"I work for Sharp Inc. Productions Labs, based in Burbank, California.

I work in the Packaging Department at Sharp, and we receive electronic products and prouduct casing daily for Sharp, which we send to distributors or Sharp Subsidiaries (like Danger with the Hiptop Platform). All of Sharp’s test casing products go through us first, and then to a manufacturer or the FCC to be pre-approved, so basicly when Sharp wants to propose a new product (like the Sidekick 3), they will manufacture usually ten to twenty test models in China, Taiwan, Japan etc, and then send them to us where we will distribute them to whom it is addressed.

All of our shipments come in standard cardboard brown boxes with a product code, sometimes a name, and sometimes a picture (so the box does not need to be opened in Customs or the like), and recently we had been receiving Sidekick 3 casing and internal memory cards, microchips and circuitry boards etc, but we have now been receiving the actual handsets, sometimes as much as 84 per shipment. Anyway, this morning when I came into work, I was assigned to package the products and simply box them, when I noticed casing for what looked like the Sidekick III’s we had been receiving, but a lot thiner and smaller - which look to me as though they are a thin RAZR version of the Sidekick III. I also noticed that the screen appeared to have DXTHB (4mpx)Tiles - which suggests that there might be a touchscreen element to the Sidekick 3."

I'll get the razor sidekick. Hmmm

I wouldnt want a razr sidekick, ive had 2 razr's already and they are very easy to break...imagine a pda dropping that is a delicate as a razr. I could just see the screen coming off after droppin if it was a razr. But the touch screen does sound hot, but im not gonna get my hopes up

theres no such thing as a razr sidekick. Razr is Motorolas TM. No one could make it. I believe certain things but not this one

At 9:03 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

To rupert...
What dont you get? They cannot use the word "RAZR" as a marketing. If that roadmap were true the first SK3 would of been out already because it said April 06'. Anybody can send this guy info and prentent they know something. I could email him saying im an employee and it would probally get posted. Tmobile did not make that road map. If there were other versions of the sidekick III wouldnt you think they would of been on the FCC site too? Come on stop falling for this crap people. Why would they even waste there time making so many different versions of one phone? They wouldnt!

Touchscreen too huh...where are they pulling this out of its ridiculous. Anyone that has the least bit of knowledge will be laughing as well. Hats off to the blogger with too much time on his hands. okay 14 year olds you can flame me now.

The "roadmap" has always seemed fishy to me. It has the feeling of some sort of creepy ultra secret conspiracy theory to it. When it hit the web, people were acting as if they discovered the Holy Grail. But it never seemed credible. No T-Mobile employee (especially one who has enough power and authority to see a blueprint of this nature) would harmfully exploit their company in such a manner by broadcasting such valuable information for the world (including competative rivals) to see. Furthermore, the roadmap failed its first test when the SK 3 did not come out in April as it was supposed to, according to the roadmap. But what REALLY makes it non-credible is the fact that the roadmap entails plans of a "RAZR Sidekick". What a load of shit. Danger and Sharp CAN make a Sidekick as thin as a RAZR but considering the fact that they do not own any rights to this copywrighted name, it is inconceivable that an official Sidekick "roadmap" would include the word "RAZR" on it. Motorola would have sued someone by now.
Dont get me wrong, Ive always supported BSD, and yes, the Sidekick 3 (or any other version of it) can be as thin as a RAZR. So I guess this latest bit of info is credible, although I dont buy the roadmap. But, then again, there is no info about this on the FCC website, now is there?

I believe that there will be 3 different versions of the sk3 just because the were there versions of the sk2. and who ever doesn't like it go some were else and post your negative comments cause no one really cares.

At 11:10 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

duh its no info on the fcc website about the other sidekick3s when the sk2 come out they tmobile didn't drop all of the sk2s at the same time that would be dumb think about if they bring the orginal sk3 out first and then drop the other 2 later every one will buy the first sk3 when it comes out and then they will turn around and go and get the "special edition" versions.

At 11:34 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

the limited editions dont have to go thru any FCC restrictions as it is the same device just a different casing. a smaller version of anything would be considered a different model and would need to go thru the FCC itself. You need to start thinking.

when is this fuckin thing gona be out??? i hope soon and i hope it is easy.. my feeling is that it will be very hard to get and it will be in high demand.... for marketing purposes

At 3:16 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

All lies. The sidekick 3 won't have a touch screen *shrugs*

At 3:38 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

hey bsd, are you some kind of fucking idiot? either you are 14 and this really IS interesting or you are a gullible retard

At 3:42 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Rupert are you a fucking moron?

yea the only reason it got pushed back was to ADD BLUETOOTH? wow....im sure it just went right over their head when they were sitting there designing the third generation sidekick. the first two should have had bluetooth and everyone let them know. the first fucking word out of their mouths at the drawing board was bluetooth I can guarantee it. they didnt come in at the last moment and go DUH WAIT WE FOR GOT BLUETOOTH. idiot

Motorola has come out with a smart phone that is "razor" thin, the Motorola Q. I have had 3 Motorolas, none of them lasting over a year and the Razor was by far the worst phone I ever owned. I bought it right when it came out and now, less than a year later they are down to $80. Wait for the Sidekick III. If you want a touch screen, get the Tmobile MDA. What are your alls thoughts on the Sidekick III vs the MDA? I don't know if I should get the MDA or wait for the Sidekick. I have not had a cell phone in over a month so I'm kind of desperate!

At 5:11 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

maybe the same guy emailed BSD, he has his email address all over the place. Ever thought that maybe the guy posted on Hiptop3 AND emailed his info to BSD? Why talk before you know the facts man?

At 5:39 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

great news...patiently waitng on the kick

At 5:56 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well Jordan releases general shoe releases and limited editions of the same shoe ... On the same day! so I wouldn't be too surprised if tmobile & danger decided to do the same.

At 7:43 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

To the person who is thinking about the MDA: Dont do it!I was forced to get it when my SK broke and I had no warranty left and it was a big regret. I sent it back as soon as I could. I felt like some other company tried to make a crappy version of the SK 3. The keyboard is odd, especially if youre used to the SK keypad, the touch screen is hard to work without the stylus pen, the AIM system doesnt work and the web browser is worse. The resolution on the MDAs screen is great though and so is the camera that comes with it. It makes the camera on the SK 2 look like an etch a sketch. However, its the same camera that will come with the SK 3. It just didnt work for me since its so different from the SK 2 which is what Im used to. So I have been using my friends crappy old Samsung and Im planning on waiting as long as it take for the SK 3. I suggest you do the same.

...when Sharp wants to promote something? Sharp has no part in any promotion of these devices! They are merly a subcontractor, I worked in such a factory for a decade for major branded mobile devices, but none of you would have heard of that company name. (sorry for double/tripple spaces, its a opera mobile beta bug!)

The use of "RAZR" in this post was NOT meant to imply that there would be a Danger Hiptop Sidekick 3 RAZR, just that there would be a thin version of the SK3. "RAZR" has become a widely spread word.
