Sidekick 2 : R.I.P. and Sayonara
We have received a number of reports in the last several days that the Sidekick 2 is no longer in production. While that is sad, the great thing about technology is the new life breathed into the world when a next generation piece of hardware is born. Out with the old, in with the new. It's kind of like when the iPod changed from black and white to color or from music-only to adding video playback. These things are sad and nostalgic for some, but they are also good because they are telltale signs of new and typically better things to come. I recently spoke with a T-Mobile rep on the phone, and I was asking about the sk3 and she said, that she thought they had updated some info on the release date of it for the T-Mobile reps, but that she couldn't "find it." I also asked her about the sk2 production being seized and she told me she's not sure if it was seized, but that they were informed that they had no more sk2s in stock.. I also went to a tmobile store and they told me June also.. so hopefully its true
Me, being the beast that I am for the sk3, called Danger and asked a rep about the sk3 and he told me he knew NOTHING, however he didn't sound too convincing to me...

a tmobile rep told me all i have to do is send in my sk2 to get a new sk3 is that true?
i just bought the SKII over the phone last night. the rep said nothing about it being discontinued.

I asked a sales representative from T-Mobile if it would be possible to upgrade my sk2 to a sk3 for free and she said no...I also asked her about the price, and she replied it would be around the price of $500. I also asked her if there was going to be a rebate sent to sk2 owners for the sk3, like there was from the sk to the sk2. Another question I asked her what was the release date and she said it could be anywhere from June to December, depending on Danger.

me personaly, I'm happy to see the sk2 go only because the sk3 is coming soon ,but the sk2 is a great phone its just so limited compared to other smart phones(pdas). hopefully the sk3 will be a better phone!!!!

You can buy SKII's from customer service and not from the T-Mobile direct stores. T-Mobile customer service keeps back-stock on phones for upgrades, replacements, and the like while the direct stores have to ship all old models back to the warehouse. That's why you can get a SKII through cust. serv. still.

THAT IS SO0 NOT TRUE TODAY I WENT TO A TMOBILE STORE IN PLANTATION AND THEY HAD A PLASTIC MODEL OF IT AND THE GUY TOL ME IT SHOULD BE COMING SOMTIME IN THE SUMMER!!! HE SAID ITS GOING TO BE FROM 300 TO 400!!!

Ok I'm guessing you guys have seen the "supposed" road map of the sidekick 3 and the UMA (unlicenced mobile access), now when the first one comes out will it not have the capability do do this or will i just need an over the air update ? thanks

I didn't say that the SKII wasn't still in all T-Mobile stores. There's a big difference between direct/in-direct T-Mobile policies, and even from market-to-market.
