The screen isnt that bad, I got to use one today.
the screen is the same on the sidekick 2. so in essence, the price we'd be paying for the upgrade is for the new features. its not like they downgraded our screen here.

I noticed when I looked up and I saw all of background skin. Is it the way they make it or you just pick background for your own? I dont like some of their background. Its look ugly! You know what I am talking about? I hope not!
I really want a Sidekick 3, but I think I'm going to hold off for just a little while. I'd like to see if Nokia comes out with an update to the Communicator line, particularly the 9500. If there's nothing imminent from Nokia, I'm all over the SK3.
I think if the screen on the Sidekick 3 were of a higher resolution/quality, I'd be picking one up ASAP. It's also too bad it doesn't support the Bluetooth DUN (dial-up networking) profile. I'm totally happy with everything else the SK3 has to offer.
What everyone seems to keep forgetting is that battery life for such a small phone has to be distributed everywhere throughout--not to mention on a device that transmits and receives data ALL DAY LONG. This consumes more battery than anything else, and with all the added extra features, I think the specs on the battery life is amazing--and I'm positive that by keeping the screen the same as the SKII, that's why it's able to do that. I don't give a crap what the screen looks like, it's color, and it worked on the SKII, why shouldn't it work this time around? And honestly, who wants to carry around a spare battery all day? I'd bet any money that if they had upgraded the screen, the battery life would have sucked.
When I checked the poll yesterday when it first started, it was like 1500 wanted it and 43 didn't. I think that's more realistic for the hype on the phone at this time.. oh and by the way, I was able to vote as many times as i wanted on the same computer--so I think someone is having a little fun with the "NO" vote here...
I'm honestly not sure yet, so I haven't voted yet. The price + screen has given me pause, and I'm one of the most active people on hiptop.com

The question that you are asking isn't fair. You aksed about upgrading to a phone that you say has a old model screen. But a fair poll whould just ask about the upgrade and at least say something about the new features. So in my veiw this poll has HATER written all over it.
The poor screen cannot be justified by battery life on the sidekick 2. If anything the sidekick2 had horrible battery life, if I didn't have a car charger with me I would have never lasted a full day with that phone. The screen should be improved bottom line, take a look at the blackberry 8700g -- battery life is far superior to a sidekick2 with an incredible screen. Danger just needs to take notes, and not explain a poor screen by battery needs.
MDA PRO... I don't remember T-mobile USA having 3G service yet. So good luck on that one buddy. Also the navigation to a sidekick is much easier than a MDA/MDA Pro since those are both touch screen phones. Certain situations make it difficult to navigate and at the end of the day -- I have never been able to drive on the freeway with the MDA and type out instant messages the way I can with a sidekick2. Functionality always wins.
11:54AM, you must realize--the 8700g doesn't transmit and receive signals all day long like the sidekick does. It just DOESN'T. If you are logged onto aim, it receives and sends whenever someone goes idle, the time they have been idle, who is away, who signs on, who signs off, and it plays sounds too every time that happens, etc etc. You can't compare any other device to the SKII because it just doesn't work the same.

I believe that there is obvious bias against the sk3 in this forum. If you're going to give a review or opinion about something, wheigh the pros and the cons to the general public so everyone can make their own decision. Not the decision you want them to make.
