More Pictures of the Sidekick 3 Surface

Some more pics of the Sidekick 3 surfaced today and I don't think the shots really tell us anything new. Sure it's great to get some new angles, see the packaging, an SD card and get a blurry shot of the homepage, but I think we need to get someone to take pics of the news apps.

How come there is still a "G" next to the antenna signal? Isn't the Sidekick III supposed to have EDGE instead of GPRS?

Derek, the people that have access to these sidekicks work for Danger/T-Mobile/Sharp and are showing us what preproduction units/testing units look like. Companies often get production models of phones/PDAs before the official launch date to let testing/focus groups use, plus the people selling the phones need to know how to use the phones so employees get to handle them during training periods.

That thing seems to be quite a bit smaller than a SideKick II, based on the relative size of the screen, SIM, and MiniSD cards. Looking forward to getting hands-on with one.

Can someone tell me if sidekick 2 users can trade in their sk 2 for the sk 3, and what we will have to do to trade it in?

At 11:13 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Im sure there is a speakerphone, its just not possible to keep it in the same place due to the battery being removable and all...

Good question about the speakerphone... Maybe they put it on the front, making the ear speaker serve double duty? That would actually be a big improvement... If you set the SK2 on something soft, it muffles the back speaker. As long as it sounds just as good, I'm fine with wherever they place it.

As far as size goes, I think it's hard to judge proportion based on these photos. I've done some image analysis based on known sizes (MiniSD, SIM, Mini USB), and the SK3 is definitely smaller. Even the thickness, which seems a little chunky in the pics, is less than the SK2.

Overall, the SK3's a significantly sleeker unit.

this proves that it is sonicboom because if you look really close at the first picture you see the saem player that was in the sonicboom shot cant wait for it and now today the 45 days of secrecy are up so either today or tommorow we might have a release date

The new pic do not tell us anything new? How about that the music player is called "Music Player" and the included SD card is 64 mb and not 1 mb? You dismiss solid info and give credits to all the fake. Bravo!

Its great to see new pics but its 06/06/06 and still nothin new from the FCC!!

From the FCC web site user manual docs. . .

If you need to turn off your device’s GSM, GPRS, EDGE, and Bluetooth wireless connectivity (for example, during aircraft takeoffs and landings), do
the following:

YEAH BABY!!!! GPRS and EDGE... "G" will be the indicator for connectivity with the 3 dots still representing the connection status.

But it is USB 1.1.

Camera is 1.3 MP. 1.75 MB internal storage for pictures and more on the MiniSD card.

Music player note:
Use the Music Player application to play MP3 sound files that you have stored on your miniSD card. You can use a memory card of any capacity.

It does have customized backgrounds.

Appears to still have a speakerphone. . . there is a dedicated speakerphone button in the upper right corner.

During a call, the sound level on your device may vary, depending on how you are routing the sound. Keep the volume at a moderate level to prevent damage to your hearing, and be careful not to switch accidentally to speakerphone
while the phone is against your ear.
